JCGMFA Book Club Guidelines
Purpose:
To
periodically meet and discuss a book from our selection in a social
setting.
Meetings are tentatively set for the
first Tuesday of the meeting month and may be changed to accommodate the majority
of the membership when coordinated by the hostess. Meeting locations will be rotated in a
different home by a designated hostess for that month or in another location as
agreed upon by the members (e.g. restaurant, library, theater, classroom, etc).
Hostess:
The hostess is responsible for entertaining
members in their home on the designated meeting night. The hostess will provide a light snack and
beverages for the meeting. Although not guaranteed,
there may be a small budget to cover the hostess’s expenses. If a budget is available it will be announced
at the first meeting.
Members:
Book club members are limited to active JCGMFA members in good
standing. Members are asked to respond promptly
to e-mail reminders directly to the designated hostess as to your attendance
status so she may plan accordingly. Members are also reminded that meetings are an
open forum where other topics may be discussed that are outside the meeting
agenda. Club members are asked to exercise
discretion and be respectful of the opinions of others.
Chairpersons:
The chairpersons will assemble the reading list based on
membership input, coordinate the meeting & hostess schedule, maintain membership
lists, email monthly meeting invitations/announcements, maintain the blog (if
used), and facilitate the book discussion.
Guideline
Revisions:
These
guidelines serve merely as a basis for conducting our meeting nights. They are not intended to detract or dull the
spirit of fun for our meetings. If at
any time it becomes apparent that these guidelines need to be revised, members
merely need to make a suggestion. Changes
will then be made by the current chairperson(s) at the approval of the majority.
